Surgery Education

Patients at the Crystal Clinic Orthopaedic Center will receive information from their surgeon specific to their surgery. We also provide general surgery education information to help put your mind at ease regarding your procedure.

Additionally, the Crystal Clinic Orthopaedic Center recommends that patients scheduled for total joint replacement surgery attend educational classes. A Patient Care Coordinator teaches the class. Since the coordinator acts as the liaison between the surgeon, nursing staff and social workers, they are on the inpatient units, giving patients a familiar face to see post-surgery. 

Patients undergoing shoulder, hip, knee or spine surgery can view videos and/or read booklets at the links below explaining what they may expect before, during and after their surgery. Patients have better outcomes in recovery knowing what to expect.

Crystal Clinic Orthopaedic Center Hospital

The new Crystal Clinic Orthopaedic Center Hospital is located at 3557 Embassy Parkway in Fairlawn. The 165,000-square-foot hospital has three levels with 12 operating rooms and 60 private patient rooms. It replaces Crystal Clinic’s inpatient and surgical space near downtown Akron. Along with orthopaedic surgery, reconstructive/plastic surgery, and inpatient post-surgical care, other services include physical therapy, diagnostic digital radiology imaging, and Crystal Clinic QuickCareTM for the immediate care of orthopaedic and sports injuries.

Outpatient Surgery Center in Fairlawn

The Surgery Center in Fairlawn, located at 3975 Embassy Parkway, has 10 operating rooms dedicated to orthopedic and plastic surgeries for outpatient procedures. There is also Pre-Admission testing and a comfortable family waiting area.
