Bio

Dr. Shumaker is a board-eligible, fellowship-trained spine surgeon. He earned his medical degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Shumaker completed an orthopaedic surgery residency at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown, Ohio. He also completed a spine fellowship at State University of New York (SUNY), Upstate Medical University.

Dr. Shumaker specializes in adult spine surgery. Prior to becoming a spine physician, Dr. Shumaker worked for several years as an orthopaedic physician assistant. In this role, he gained experience in spine surgery, general orthopaedics, total joint replacement, hand and microsurgery, sports medicine, and orthopaedic trauma.

Dr. Shumaker is a member of several medical societies, including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) and the North American Spine Society. Dr. Shumaker has been a physician since 2015.
